About the Business
I n 1974 Alexander Skea set up his business, Alexander Skea Distribution, with a single lorry as a haulage contractor, transporting loads the length and breadth of Britain. Based in Arbroath, Angus in Scotland, many of the contracts he worked on were for local companies sending their goods down south to England. Alex acquired premises in the form of Arbroath's old council yard which became his operating centre for a number of years as he worked on building his business. In 1995, after much dedication and hard work, Alex expanded his business by acquiring land at Arbroath's Elliot Industrial Estate, at that time also establishing two new subsidiaries in the form of Skea Removals and Skea Haulage. More recently, in 2003, it was incorporated as a limited company. Alex branched off into the self storage side of the business where he started buying in storage containers which, stacked on top of each other, soon began changing the skyline of the industrial estate's Peasiehill road.
